In September we will be exploring Places.  Photographs of places give us a feel for an environment.  Whether it's the hustle and bustle of a city, or a quiet calm of a lake, we can almost step into the photograph and feel that we are there in the moment.

36/52 - BE A TOURIST

Being a tourist in your own hometown gives you a chance to slow down and really see the place how someone from outside your town might see it.  Things that you might take for granted as ordinary and usual can all of a sudden become amazing and extraordinary.  People who live in Venice might think the canals are just necessary modes of transportation, but to the tourist, they are unique and special.  This month, slow down and really look around.  You might really enjoy your hometown even more than you do already!

37/52 - HOME

Home.  This is where you spend your time, where your heart is.  It is different from being a tourist because it gives a sense of where you are all the time, where your days occur, what is special to you.  Be creative in showcasing it!

The above is not my actual house but instead a place where I spend much time.

38/52 - FAVORITE PLACE

Some people have one favorite place; some people have many.   It can be as simple as your front porch or as heartfelt as holding all of your children in your arms.  If you know me, one of my favorite places is the beach.  It brings a sense of calm to me that I just can't get inside the big city.  So... here is a share from the Hamptons in Long Island, New York.  I'm including two images so you can see the charm of the area as well as its gorgeous beaches, together creating a place that I hold dear.   Complete opposite of city, don't you think?

39/52 - ROUTINE

I hope we can get creative showing our routines.  We all have them.  They make our lives easier, where things become natural where we don't have to think at all.  Whether it's our morning cup of coffee (possibly set on a timer!), or reading books to your kids at night, routines are everyday occurrences, and it will be fun to see them in pictures.

The above image was taken at Ellis Island.  How is this routine?  We had just gotten off the ferry, and one of the first things we do when we come inside is to wash our hands.  Plus, this was taken in a bathroom, and we always, always keep clean!

I hope you found this information helpful.  Please remember to post your images to the appropriate albums on Facebook no later than September 30, 2017.  The albums are located here:  36/52 Be A Tourist37/52 Home38/52 Favorite Place and 39/52 Routine.

I look forward to seeing your work.
