I've been hinting over in the Grace Project that 2018 will be big. It will be different than the two years prior, and it will be creative. I wanted to come up with an overall theme to try something new where we all could work on a year long project together. We have covered so many topics in our two years together, and I didn't want to repeat any of them. I also wanted to focus on putting together everything we learned over the course of the two years in a way that was fun and beautiful, where it kept us interested and creative. And maybe at the end of the year, we will each have something gorgeous to look at.
So without further ado, the year long project we will work on together is COLOR!
Each month will be a different color, and we will work to photograph that color in all different ways. From above or below, in wide angle or macro. We will try to think of new ways to capture the color, in different settings and with different subject matter. We will present a grid of 9 by month's end, thinking about where we place each image to make the collage most pleasing to our eye, and whether the images compliment each other or compete, and if they compete, whether one should be included or not. We will consider processing, so the set looks cohesive. And most importantly, we will be creative!
I'm really excited about this color challenge. At first I thought it would be overwhelming, but it's fun to think of color like this. I've been testing it out for almost two months, and it really has been pushing me creatively. I hope everyone learns to see color in unexpected places.
I will announce the January color soon. Some of you may already know what it is if you've seen the sneak peaks I've shared in our Facebook group.
Come join us in the Grace Project. It'll be a colorful year!
