In June, we focused on Hard Light and Hard Shadows, learning to use it to expand on our story. We had many wonderful entries presented to our secret picker. And the winner was... Randi Brown Jacobs!
The secret picker indicated: "This image stands out to me because it reminds me of my childhood at the beach. The playful spirit of this girl who can't get enough of the water is still going strong even as the sun is going down. The hard light creates a magical feel as it sparkles on the waters surface." What a gorgeous image Randi! It's as if seeing a childhood memory before us!
It was fun to see how differently each participant used the light.
by Christine Wright.
Christine used hard light to highlight the little girl's face. The shadows hide her location, making it mysterious as we wonder what she is thinking and where she is.

Juliana used hard light to create contrast at the beach. The colors are more vibrant, and we note that it is a warm, sunny summer day where the children are having fun in the sun. We can almost feel the sun's warmth on our skin and hear the screams of delight!
Congratulations everyone! Great work!
