I have some news to share... I am excited and humbled at the same time because I have been accepted as a Click Pro by Click and Company!
"What does that mean?" you ask.
Click and Company is a photography forum which allows photographers to apply for "Pro" status. It's a big application process whereby photographers must submit a portfolio of 150 images for review. They review the portfolio based on certain criteria: exposure triangle, color and white balance, use of light, composition and posing, processing cohesion and polish, technical (such as focus, depth of field, etc.) and creativity, expression and intention. The portfolio needs to flow smoothly, and they basically "grade" you in each category. You must obtain a certain score to pass. It is an intense process and review, and one that is taken very seriously.
Last January I took my camera out on the streets of Manhattan and began to shoot street. I applied everything I had ever learned to street photography, and I learned the rest as I explored the city. By the end of the year, I had a nice collection of images that worked well together. I decided to put them together in a portfolio for review. I added some of my beach images to it, because city and beach are me, and I really wanted the portfolio to be a little piece of me, a reflection, of sorts, of what I love most.
On January 16, 2018, I applied to Click and Company without anyone seeing my final portfolio. The Flickr album had zero views. Zero! I sent it in and never looked at it again. On January 31st, I received the congratulatory email and I was ecstatic. I had passed! I had met all the standards necessary to becoming Pro. It meant a lot because, as I said, the portfolio was a reflection of me, and it was received well.
Going forward, this means that I can participate in Click and Company's Daily Project. It is a way for Click Pros to be creative and share their work in the forum for everyone to enjoy. You can find my Daily Project here. Please explore that website further, too, because there are many talented photographers sharing their incredible work!
So without further ado, I'd like to share with you my final portfolio. Click here. Come walk the streets with me!
